The Alumni Redesign

The Alumni is a new agency in Colorado that covers high school news in the state. They are the authority for academic, activities and athletic news in the state of Colorado. Focal55 designed and developed the site in conjunction with the owner and publisher, Matthew Castilleja. We are currently working on redesigning the overall look and feel of the website to encourgage students, parents, faculty, staff and administers involved in the Colorado High School system to sign up and participate in the site. We believe that Colorado's High Schools can benefit from a TheAlumninews.org's social network features. We will be adding more communication tools, games, and scholarship opportunities for those enjoying their high school years in Colorado.

Today we are focusing on commenting on Blackboard posts. This feature, that is similar to Facebooks' wall behavior, will be accomplished by tapping into Drupal 6 hook_menu API and jQuery's fantastic Ajax function. We will capture the input values that the user enters and send them to our custom URL via a jQuery Ajax request. Once the post is saved, we will append the new post to the top of the list and fade it in with some more jQuery magic.
